Today's release of version 4.6 of the Linux Kernel includes something I'm quite a bit emotional about. After all these years of Linux usage, I have finally managed to give something back. Kernel 4.6 includes my first kernel patch.
Actually it's a set of three patches, implementing an additional operation mode for the TI OPT3001 ambient light sensor driver in the Industrial I/O (IIO) subsystem.
Technically no big thing, but it was very interesting and informative to go through the whole process from having written the code over mailing list submission to finally have it accepted by a maintainer.
I hope I'll have the time to make lots of patches follow ;)
